This weekend was my niece/goddaughter’s first birthday.

We went to NY over the weekend to be at her “party”. I have never seen so many people at a birthday party for a person that does not have the ability to know what’s going on.
I never know what to get for someone that can’t communicate with the outside world. But Kristina was fired up and I just gave her cash to go get something. This is what we got:

By the way, I don’t know the baby in that picture. It’s whoever models for Fisher Price. I am not claiming to know this kid.
So the party started at 3, and I had to drive back here to Boston right after that. Since the party was packed full of people, I had a built-in excuse to hang back in the downstairs kitchen, where there’s a tiny TV. I watched the Patriots, and it was awful. They just looked terrible yesterday losing to Carolina. Carolina’s defense just looked overwhelming, and Tom Brady just couldn’t hook up with any of the receivers.
So at 4:00, I located Kristina mingling with the relatives, and told her we had to leave. It’s a 3 and a half to 4 hour ride home (depending on traffic, of course), and I had to watch Family Guy. There’s no option. I must watch it.
So we immediately leave, and the entire ride home Kristina and Toby slept. I threw on the XM radio, listened to Opie and Anthony and Ron and Fez. I am usually an incredibly slow driver, but I flew home, and got back by 8. Excellent.
So I started my week the hard way. When I woke up this morning, I had to shave, and I fired up the Mach 3 Turbo. Being half-asleep with no caffeine, it’s not a good idea to pick up a three bladed razor and begin carving your face. But that’s what I did, and this was the result:

Doing anything without the proper amount of caffeine is dangerous. Especially on a Monday.
