Google Base to Take on Craig’s List?

October 26th, 2005 by Barry Freed · No Comments

A new hatchling is apparently coming out of the Google Labs: GoogleBase.

From Google’s short-lived base.google.com page:

Google Base is Google’s database into which you can add all types of content. We’ll host your content and make it searchable online for free.

Examples of items you can find on Google Base:

  • Description of your party planning service
  • Articles on current events from your web site
  • Listing of your used car for sale
  • Database of protein structures

A screenshot is available here on Seweso’s Blog

Though Google Base has not been “officially” announced, there is much buzz and speculation on the service:

Scott Wingo’s Blog
gives a full rundown.

Cerado has screenshots of everything.
