Dogs Like Fudge

Story Ahead
I haven’t taken the time to sit down with a coffee and properly write this story until now. So here goes.

Once there was a dog named Toby.

Toby was very excited about Christmas time.

Toby’s owners went out shopping, so Toby was inside his crate all day. They felt bad, so when they got home, they decided to let him roam around the apartment all night. He was very exited.

Kristina slept on the couch so he wouldn’t be alone, and I went to bed in our room. At 2:00 am ish……

I was awaken by a frantic Kristina. Apparently, Toby got ontop of the coffee table and grabbed a tin of fudge.

He ate it all.

And as we all know, chocolate is bad for dogs.

In my semiconscious state, all I could say to Kristina was “induce vomiting.” That’s the best I could come up with. I then fell back asleep. Two minutes later, Kristina came back in and dragged me out of bed. I had her fire up our laptop and see what we should do. The first thing we read was to give the dog a table spoon of salt.

But Toby has an iron stomach, and aside from being thirsty, he didn’t get sick. Kristina was in panic mode, and I talked her into calling a vet and asking what to do. They said we needed to make him throw up right away (induce vomiting……like I said), and to do it, we should give him a table spoon of Hydrogen Peroxide.

And of course, we had no hydrogen peroxide at home. So I had to go find a 24 hour walgreens.

I found one on route one, and got a bottle and hurried home. I made it back in record time.

We gave toby a tablespoon, and he dropped to the ground and squirmed around. He then sat up, perked up his ears, and threw up on the floor. Twice.

After that, all was well. Toby was happy and still alive.

OH MY GOODNESS! When I read your opening line, “Once there was a dog named Toby” I thought that Toby possibly passed away. I could not have been more tense reading it. I am glad that it worked out for the best.

I love the fact that you took time to take a picture of the walgreens.
