This weekend I rented the movie “Mail Order Wife“. Kristina had mentioned it before, and that she’d heard about it from a co-worker. But when she was talking about it, she kept saying that it was a documentary. And that’s what the filmmakers are trying for.

The movie is a “mockumentary”. The premise is a fun one: A New York City doorman is unlucky with love and decides to go for a mail order bride. A documentary filmmaker decides it would be a great film, so he puts up the money for the bride in exchange for being able to document the process.

Of course, it all goes wrong.

But it is absolutely hilarious in a subtle way. The movie never breaks character as a documentary, so I can see how someone could easily be fooled. Rent this movie.
