New Camera and Random Thoughts

February 7th, 2006 by Barry Freed · 1 Comment

I am very excited about my new camera. Just for the hell of it I went to Craig’s List last week to see if anyone had a good digital camera for a decent price. I’ve had my Fuji digital for about 3 years now, and it’s getting pretty outdated. When I try to shoot indoors in low light situations I end up with a blurry, dark picture that even photoshop can’t help.

That’s one justification for wanting a new toy.

Another is that I just wanted a Digital SLR.

So I saw that a guy had an Olympus E-500 in Somerville. I just got paid and got my tax return, and ontop of that, I just finished a freelancing gig. So I had to get it. And get it I did.

The quality of the images are unbelievable, and the camera itself is beautiful. So if you read this blog, there’s a good chance that you’ll start seeing more photos…..

In other news, we saw Munich on Friday night. What a complete waste of 3 hours of my life. It was a great premise with a great story, but the execution was terrible.

I really wanted to love this movie, but I was disappointed. You know how a movie “feels” like it is either shorter or longer than the actual running time? Munich was 3 hours long, and it felt like 7.

So last night I thought it would be nice to rent something to rinse my brain off. I needed it after this steaming pile. I got Crash and really liked it. I’ll write more about that later.

[...] Case in point. He has an awesome new digital camera and went online and found a way to make your own blue screen for $30. He puts it together on Sunday and that night we arranged for the animals to have their very first school photos taken. Yes, I’m serious. We thought it would be hilarious to have each of them pose on a table and Nate would photoshop a cheesy background, reminicent of our school day pics. Does anyone remember having pink and blue lazers, huge crayons and pencils, or the cheesy lake background where you leaned on a fake wooden fence? Oh yes you do! So here’s what Nate created: [...]
