Opie and Anthony to Replace David Lee Roth

April 20th, 2006 · No Comments

Wow!
It appears that one of my predictions is actually coming true. After speculating that Opie and Anthony were going to replace David Lee Roth one way or another, it seems that the best case scenario is coming true.

Rather than leaving XM satellite radio, the show will be rebroadcast on CBS stations in Roth’s markets.

I posted on this Tuesday, citing Anthony’s cryptic comments during the Boston live show this Monday, but wasn’t able to find anything to substantiate the rumor. But today, there are news stories everywhere, from Yahoo to Boston.com, so apparently the deal is done.

From the Boston.com piece:

XM will now syndicate the program to the stations in New York and six other markets, with three hours of the program airing on the CBS Radio stations, the people familiar with the deal said. XM will simultaneously broadcast that portion of the show, along with another two hours of exclusive O&A, they said.

So, it looks like the best case scenario is coming true…..O&A will remain on XM, and they will also get the opportunity to gain exposure on terrestrial radio. The irony is that O&A will be able to promote their satellite show, while Howard was sued for talking about his.

This is still a developing story, but at least I feel a little more comfortable talking about it as fact since I’m now in the company of Yahoo and Boston.com.

Hoo Hoo. Tell Him Fred.
