Fear of the unknown

Yeah, so this is going to be pretty vague. Sorry about that.

Sometimes we get stuck with our routines. We get up every morning, go through our normal rituals, and head out the door to work. While there, we do what we’re supposed to do, and when we get home, our routines continue. And sometimes that can be a good, comforting thing.

These routines become so commonplace and “normal” in our lives that the thought of change is an enormous source of anxiety. The potential for change makes us defensive.

Recently, I was faced with what I perceived to be an uncomfortable, jarring change in my life. My immediate reaction was to be afraid. I wanted things to stay the same. I just started to worry, thinking to myself “this isn’t how things are supposed to be. things aren’t going to plan.”

Then I read something and all those worries went away. I’m now able to see this change as an opportunity, even though I’m still unable to be fully, 100% positive about it.

What I read was from a cheesy story, but for some reason it resonated with me:

“when you move beyond your fear, you feel free.”
