We’ve Done it All

It’s All In My Head.

I was just reading an article on StevePavlina.com (a blog I read regularly), and it really made me think about the difference between what’s real and what we convince ourselves to be real.

Anyway, in the article, the author says:

Where do all your relationships exist?  They exist in your thoughts.  Your relationship with another person is whatever you imagine it to be.  Whether you love someone or hate someone, you’re right.  Now the other person may have a completely different relationship to you, but understand that your representation of what someone else thinks of you is also part of your thoughts.

That’s an interesting way to think about relationships. They’re just what you think they are. The idea of a relationship is just an abstract idea, and it’s one that is completely subjective.

I am having a tough time coming up with a point here. I guess its that it is amazing to me what we think of as being real, concrete things are often just what we’ve convinced ourselves to believe. Many things we think of as static, immutable facts are opinions that we’ve stopped wondering about.
