Just some quick updates

May 23rd, 2007 · 3 Comments

I promise- I haven’t forgotten about this blog. I’ve just been a little bit busy here at the new job, and I just haven’t had time to post any updates here.

A couple of quick updates here:

1. I can talk a little more freely about my job now.
Our company is still in “stealth-mode”, but we’re getting very close to a beta release, so I can start talking to people about what we’re up to. Rather than blabbing here about it, I’ll just say this:

Being a blogger got me my job.

That is absolutely true. If I didn’t have at least 2 blogs I wouldn’t have even been considered. For those of you who know me personally, I’ve probably already told you my title: web evangelist. So it’s actually my job to find other blogs that cover what my company does, and form real relationships with those bloggers, developers, etc.

I’m also expected to write at least one blog article per week for the company’s blog.

At first I was a little worried about the job. It sounded too good to be true. I wanted to be sure that the idea wasn’t to spend all day spamming other bloggers and talking about how awesome we are. That, in my mind, would most definitely be selling out. But fortunately, that’s not what I’m supposed to be doing at all. The new job absolutely rules.

2. I bought a car.
Yup. Picked it up yesterday. I am now the proud owner of a brand-new Nissan Versa. In about 3 more miles, I’ll hit the 100 mile mark. I am so excited to have a new car.

3. I’ll be going to Seattle in August for a conference I’m putting together. And I came up with the idea of having a Guitar Hero 2 tournament along with free beer and food for everyone. How can you go wrong with that?

Life is good.

Welcome to the wild and wacky world of social media and public relations! Aw, I am so proud. Sometime you and I should discuss what my company does; depending on what your company does I might be able to provide you with some good Boston-area contacts. Check us out, we’re networking! ;) (I might even show you my legitimate blog, not the one that I pray my bosses don’t know about…not that it’s “bad”, just embarassing, hehe.)

How funny…I was just going to mention you should email sarah since her job sounds essentially the same as yours! I am going to be in seattle in the end of august…when are you going? that would be really strange if we ran into eachother! Going to Peru in the beginning of August, that should be awesome. Did I tell you I went to Japan in March? You would totally appreciate all the technology there….

Congrats on the new job and the new car, that is real cool! And hey, if you need any tips on Seattle ask Montoya or myself, she grew up there and I have spent a lot of time there over the past 5 or 6 years. Great great city!
