This is my second day working from home, and the walls are closing in here at tellhimfred.com international headquarters. I’ve got that awesome once-a-year “weather turns cold and my system decides that a fever, headache, congestion, and overall apathy toward life sounds fun” thing going on. Though I have been quarantined here, I’ve actually been able to get a lot done. I’ve been sitting behind my obscenely large flatscreen monitor writing blog posts, doing work, and drinking lots of energy drinks.

I tried to reach out to the other tellhimfred.com contributors to get something going tonight, but alas, they all have wives, girlfriends, and assorted other responsibilities keeping them from going out. I was about to call the night a bust when the phone rang……

It was a co-worker from my old job. He is going out downtown tonight with a large group of friends, and said:

I’m having a bunch of people together tonight were gona be meeting up at the hong kong for a wile… boozen and causing trouble in groups.. mostly the point of the whole thing

What can you say to that? I had to consult with my conscience. I had two choices:

1. Stay in- This is the responsible, adult choice. Since I have a cold/flu situation, it would be prudent to stay in, maybe rent a movie, and go to sleep early. This will speed up my recovery, and it just makes sense.

2. Go out- I can stay here until 9ish and get as much work done as possible, then head downtown to meet up with the youngsters.

The choice, to me, is obvious. I’ll bring the little video camera just in case the debauchery reaches levels requiring internet documentation. Staying in for nearly two full days is just too much. I’m starting to look around for places to store guns, and thinking about writing some kind of manifesto. Time to get out.
