So the Sox will be starting their season over in Tokyo tomorrow. I believe they play at 7 or 8pm Tokyo time, but here in Boston it’ll be 6:05am. My original plan was to take the day off work and start pounding Krin Ichiban 22 ouncers at the first pitch, but I’ll have to settle for coffee and work at 9am. Ah well, that leaves 160 regular season games to have an oat soda while watching.
Now I know there’s Sox fans out there who, like I planned, will take the day off tomorrow to watch the game. Bars won’t be serving alcohol until after the game’s over (most anyway). Hell, opening Day at Fenway is practically a city-wide holiday (cookout here at my firm). So who out there is gonna get up early and watch the Sox begin the 2008 season and defense of their second championship in four years tomorrow morning?
**as a side note, they Sox have swept the four exhibition games against two Japanese teams already…., and are hitting the shit out of the ball. J.D. Ouch-My-Back Drew smacked a three-run HR and a Grand Slam already. Ortiz is back belting pitches into other time-zones, and Manny’s shaping up to have a career year at the plate (490 HR total, 21st all time, Ted Williams has 521)**
Go Sox!!!!!

I was just about to ask you guys if you were fired up for the game. It’s on at 3am out here. Ouch. Part of me wants to set the alarm just to welcome in the new season. The other part of me wants to just continue spooning my will clark cabbage patch kid and continue dreaming about 1989. Huuuuuum Baby!

I for one, am extremely pumped for all things Red Sox. Cutty got into watching the Sox for a full season last year, and will make great use of his Mike Lowell jersey this year, seeing as how it didn’t get to him until after the Sox won the World Series.
Oh, and for the Sox Season Preview, got check out Fitzy at Townie News, who is far more colorful-language qualified than I am to do a season preview.
BTW, NSFW. check that one at your own fahkin’ risk.
