Shameless Self-Promotion

April 7th, 2008 by Jimmy Hoffa · 6 Comments

One of the advantages of contributing to a blog with over 12 unique hits in one day is that you can engage in what I like to call “Shameless Self-Promotion”. True, that concept really doesn’t need quotes, nor does it need an explanation, so yeah. We’ll move on.

As one or two of you may be aware, I’m in a band, called Red Square. We can also be seen here.

In any case, we’re embarking on a new journey with a promoter, who has lined up a series of shows at venues outside of our usual three spots (The Burren in Somerville, MA; the Skellig in Waltham, MA; the Chicken Bone in Framingham, MA)

This Thursday (yes, I know it’s a thursday, but come on, if the college kids can do it, so can you!) we have our first of these gigs here:

Tommy Doyle’s, Harvard Square

Thursday, April 10, starting around 9:30ish.

We play an interesting mix of music all over the spectrum. Hey, we’re a fun bar cover band. Come drink too much for a weeknight and let your girlfriend drag you onto the dance floor. We promise not to let you down.

I second the promotion of Red Square. Their brand of covers are not only a great, wide selection, but they make the songs their own, all the musicians adding to them with their various talents.

Seriously, watch the guitarist for a song or two. He’s damn good.

How late are you guys going to be playing? I’d love to come by after I get off work, which is 11.

We’ll be up for about three hours.

Randi - you should come after you finish work. I haven’t been to a show in months and I plan to go to this one, especially if you’re coming :)
