TellHimFredders, boy do we have a treat for you. Today I was with our own Jimmy Hoffa as he got a new tattoo at an ink party. I recorded the whole thing on video, and you’ll see all that tomorrow. But tonight, as part of our commitment to post every day, I’m going to be posting about tonight’s Welterweight Championship fight between Joshua “Heater” Clottey and Zab Judah.
Round One:
A snorefest. Nothing happened. Judah looks like he’s trying to be conservative, and Clottey is a counter puncher. Judah is in incredible shape, but if he’s content to throw weak jabs, he’s going to be in trouble. Clottey can take him out.
Round Two:
Clottey won the round, but not by much. Judah is doing next to nothing and looks unstable on his feet. He’s clearly holding back for later rounds, and Clottey is spending most of his time blocking weak jabs. Weak.
Round Three:
Um, same deal. Clottey wins the round, but at least Zudah is trying to hit the body. That’s about all I can say for that round.
Round Four:
Now that was one hell of a round. Judah came out swinging and landed some great shots, but Clottey rebounded and connected with some great, clean shots. Judah’s face is mashed up and he’s really bleeding. He’s spitting out blood. Clottey is going to win this fight.
Round Five:
Meh. Judah is showing some life, but not a lot. He’s really looking for body shots and is hitting mostly glove.
Round Six:
Well, Judah looked tired at the beginning, but he’s not. He has a LOT left in the tank. Even though he threw a low blow in the round, I think Judah won that round. Clottey threw some heavy bombs, but not enough to win the round.
Round Seven:
Wow. Clottey clobbered him. Judah was nearly out on his feet but Clottey couldn’t finish him. Judah is hurt.
Round Eight:
Judah looked ready to go, but at the end of the round, he unleashed a flurry that was mostly blocked. Judah has something left in the tank, but is it enough?
Round Nine:
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
The fight is stopped due to an accidental head butt. Judah is cut like crazy and he can’t see. The fight doctor put an end to it, and they’re going to the scorecard. But who’s going to win?
So, it wasn’t a head butt at all. Clottey hit him clean and opened the eye, and was the unanimous winner.
Joshua Clottey is the new welterweight champion. He deserved it.
